The tenth-seeded Berea-Midpark softball team is headed to the OHSAA Tournament sectional finals on the arm of senior Tiana Card while also being lifted by first basemen Sienna Apel.

On Wednesday, Card struck out seven batters while the Apel’s fourth inning three-run home run lead the Titans to a 4-3 victory over seventh-seeded Avon Lake. Card hurled 113 pitches in the complete game effort, picking up her tenth victory of the spring.

Apel’s home run, her second of the season, broke the scoreless tie in the fourth. An error in the sixth allowed pinch runner Jenna Zaremba to score from third to give the Titans a crucial insurance run. Bridie Bricker, Mikhayla Hale and Miah Puchmajer all recorded two hits in the victory.
