In an amazing night in the water, the Titans swimming and diving teams’ bid for a comeback fell just short as the girls lost to Olmsted Falls 103-75 and the boys dropped their contest with the Bulldogs 99-79.
“We showed how tough we are and had some truly amazing swims tonight” said Coach Morgan. “This was also a very bittersweet meet as it marked the last home meet and dual meet for our seniors.”
The girls finished the evening with six event wins, highlighted by junior Abby Calaway setting a new school record in the 200 freestyle with her time of 2:00.74. Calaway also won the 100 freestyle with a time of 56.51. The junior was not done winning, as she helped anchor the 200 freestyle relay team with Bella Willet, Annalise Bolton, and Mackenzie Black to a first place finish in 1:54.17. The quartet capped off the night with a first place finish in the 400 freestyle relay in 4:11.11.
Black had a great night in the water as well as the freshman won both of her individual events, setting personal bests in the 100 butterfly (1:14.30) and the 100 backstroke (1:13.59).
On the boys side, the Titans earned four individual event victories. Senior Kyle Hammond remains undefeated in dual meets this year in diving as he finished last night in first place with a score of 241.35. Fellow senior Roman Wentzel finished the 200 freestyle in 2:00.53 for a first place finish.
In the 100 butterfly it was Ethan Dort who touched the wall first with his time of 1:03.10. The final event win for the Orange and Blue was Ethan Barker in the 500 freestyle as he finished with a time of 5:35.65.
The Titans swimming and diving programs will prepare for the Southwestern Conference Tournament.
