The Southwestern Conference named eight Berea-Midpark Titans to the 2020 All-SWC teams, led by first-team selections WR/DB Jack Arnold, WR/DB DeAngelo Borders, QB Luke Devins, and WR/DB Devin Johnson.
Senior DE Connor Reynolds and senior DT Daniel Yu earned second team All-SWC while junior WR/DB Cameron Cupach and sophomore RB/LB Hudson Devins earned Honorable Mention All-SWC laurels.
Four Juniors Earn 1st Team Honors
Earning his first conference recognition, Arnold shined in 2020, leading the Titans in receiving yards (965 yards) and touchdowns (12 td) on the year. From his cornerback position, the junior was tied for the most pass breakups on the team (6 pbu), second in interceptions (3 int) and had 28 tackles for the Titans.
As a sophomore, Borders was recognized as an All-SWC second team player in 2019. This season, Borders led the Orange and Blue in receptions (50 rec), was second in receiving yards (734 yards) and found the endzone three times. On the defensive side of the ball, Borders was tied with Arnold with six pass breakups and had 18 tackles on the year.
The signal caller for the Titans offense, Devins earned his first Southwestern Conference recognition for his play this season. The junior quarterback completed 63% of his passes for 3,039 yards and 30 touchdowns. Devins finished second in rushing yards (217 yards) and rushing touchdowns (5 td) for Berea-Midpark.
Johnson also earned his first Southwestern Conference laurel this season, giving the Titans three first team All-SWC wide receivers. The junior racked up 43 receptions and 678 yards in 2020, finding the endzone eight times. Johnson really shined defensively this season, leading the Orange and Blue in tackles (87 tackles) from his safety position and tying Arnold and Borders in pass breakups (6 pbu).
Senior Defensive Linemen Recognized
In 2019, Reynolds earned Honorable Mention All-SWC. This year, the senior was third in tackles (52 tackles) on the season and tied for the most tackles for loss (7 tfl) for the Orange and Blue.
Daniel Yu received his first All-SWC laurel this season for his play on the defensive line. Battling injuries throughout 2020, Yu finished with 15 tackles and right behind Reynolds with six tackles for loss.
Honorable Mention Titans
Berea-Midpark’s Cameron Cupach and Hudson Devins both earned their first All-SWC selections this season as members of the honorable mention team.
Cupach put together a fine junior campaign on both sides of the ball. The WR/DB paced Berea-Midpark with four interceptions on the season and recorded 22 tackles. As a receiver, Cupach finished fourth in receiving this year with 238 yards and scored twice.
Sophomore RB/LB Hudson Devins was second on the team in tackles (85 tackles) this season, tied Reynolds for most tackles for loss (7 tfl) and led the Orange and Blue with two sacks.
