Berea-Midpark’s boys and girls cross country teams opened up the postseason portion of their schedule with the Southwestern Conference Championships on Saturday at Lorain County Community College. The boys placed seventh with a team score of 180 points and the girls finished ninth with 212 points.
The boys team finished in 7th place with a team score of 180 points. Thomas Coble, a junior, was Berea-Midpark’s top finisher with a 5k clocking of 18:13.8, and Ian Taylor followed his footsteps with a 34th-place showing with a readout of 18:54.3.
Rounding out the scoring effort for the Titans were seniors Antonio Burton, Evan Alten and Spencer Reardon. Burton crossed the finish line at 18:54.6 earning him a 35th-place showing. Alten finished in 19:06.2 to earn the 43rd slot. Reardon was just off Alten’s pace and finished with a time of 19:18.2 for 47th place.
Noah Hopkins finished 50th with a time of 19:32.5. Logan Zsembik placed 52nd with a readout of 19:39.1.
Running at the course for the second time this season, Brooke Bechtel paced the Titans and earned an 8th-place showing with a 5k time of 20:37.6 to earn First Team All-SWC honors.
Sadie Hunter (23:38.8) and Summer Vargo (23:51.7) ran with each other throughout the race and finished one after the other in the finishing chute to earn 46th and 47th-place showing respectively.
Brooke Kosakowski finished fourth for the Titans with her time of 24:13.4. Sophomore Nicole Huang was the final Titan to score with a 57th-place finish; she clocked a time of 24:29.9.
Emma Garr (25:42.0/59th place) and Theresa Candow (26:41.8/61st place) were the final two finishers for the girls.

The Titans will return to Lorain County Community College for the OHSAA District Meet on Saturday October 24th. The boys will run at 1:30pm while the girls race will being at 3:30pm
