The boys and girls Berea-Midpark swimming & diving teams returned to action on Saturday morning with a meet against Normandy at the Berea-Midpark Middle School pool. The Titans saw strong performances from divers and freestyle swimmers, winning seven events overall.
Girls Results: Normandy 95, Berea-Midpark 90
Multi-event winner Abby Calaway got the Titans their first event victory in the 50 yard freestyle, reaching for the wall first with her time of 27.27. Calaway also picked up a Titans victory in the 100 yard backstroke. The sophomore finished with a time of 1:05.54, 0.06 seconds shy of a Berea-Midpark school record.
Michelle Dranuski won the 100 yard freestyle for the second time this year, beating her time from Tuesday by 0.24 seconds as she finished in 1:00.28. The final victory for the girls on the morning came in the 400 yard freestyle relay. The team of Mallory Redetzki, Megan Thai, Dranuski and Calaway finished in 4:10.99, a solid 36 seconds faster than Normandy.
Boys Results: Normandy 104, Berea-Midpark 73
On the 1-Meter board, Berea-Midpark went for a clean sweep with a win for Caden Dees (195.15) and second place for Kyle Hammond (180.25). Ethan Barker won the 500 yard freestyle, setting solid splits on his way to a finish of 5:45.87.
The Titans picked up the final event victory of the day in the 400 yard freestyle relay. Roman Wentzel, Jacob Hoessle, Mitchell Windahl and Barker finished the race in 3:57.71.
The Titans continue their stretch of home meets on Tuesday December 3rd when they host North Ridgeville from the Berea-Midpark Middle School pool. Events get underway at 6:00 p.m.
