The Berea-Midpark Cross Country teams took a trip to Elyria where they competed in the 2019 edition of the Southwestern Conference Championships at Lorain County Community College. The girls placed 5th while the boys finished 10th.
Senior Megan Thai was the top finisher for the Titans again for the third week. Thai finished 5th with a time of 20:15.3, improving from her 21:56.3 time she posted at LCCC at the SWC Preview Meet. Fellow senior Shura Ermakov was the second runner wearing Orange and Blue to cross the finish line with a time of 20:31.5.
Rounding out the scoring efforts for the Titans was freshman Brooke Bechtel (20:36.3/10th), junior Brooke Kosakowski (22:11.1/36th) and senior Katrina Scheu (23:01.9/54th).
Junior runner, Antonio Burton, was the first to cross the threshold for the boys. Burton registered a 41st place finish with a finishing 5k time of 18:41.3. Thomas Coble, a sophomore, was the next Titan to earn points for the team. Coble finished with a time of 19:11.0 placing 54th and edging out fellow sophomore teammate Ian Taylor who crossed the finish line in 19:14.3 in 55th place.
Rounding out the scoring efforts for the boys was junior Nathan Demian (19:29.3/58th) and freshman Logan Zsembik (19:31.3/59th).
On November 19th, both teams will travel back to Elyria for the 2019 OHSAA Cross Country District Meet. The girls race begins at 11:45 a.m. and the boys race starts at 1:30 p.m.
