The Berea-Midpark girls and boys cross country teams took on the Tommy Evans Meet Saturday afternoon. The girls team placed second out of three teams, defeating Buckeye by four, while the boys placed fourth at the Silver Creek Metropark Cross Country Trails.
The girls team placed second with 51 team points. All five Titans who scored claimed top 20 finishes. Brooke Bechtel was the top finisher for the team in the Tommy Evans Meet placing fifth with a 5k time of 20:48.2.
Not far behind the freshman were teammates Megan Thai and Shura Ermakov. Thai finished the 5k course with a time of 20:54.6 earning her 6th place, and Ermakov took 9th with a time of 21:59.1.
Katrina Scheu and Olivia Rentsch closed out the Titans scoring efforts taking 17th and 18th in a field of 50 runners. Scheu finished with a time of 23:39.4, while Rentsch crossed the finish line at 23:56.5.
For the third straight race, Thomas Coble was the top finisher for the Titans. The sophomore placed 9th (18:49.8) in a field of 64 runners.
Berea-Midpark’s boys team placed fourth with 84 team points. Running nine places behind Coble was sophomore Ian Taylor, who crossed the finish line with a readout of 19:24.7.
Closing out the scoring efforts for the Titans were junior Spencer Reardon (19:26.6), sophomore Noah Hopkins (19:34.2) and freshman Logan Zsembik (19:50.3).
Berea-Midpark will head to the Spartan Invitational on Saturday September 14th in Boardman.
