The Berea-Midpark boys and girls cross country teams headed to Mentor to compete in the 2019 edition of the Mentor Cardinal Classic. The girls finished twelfth with 295 points and the boys took eighteenth with 530 points.
The girls finished with a total run time of 1:48:53.36, led by freshman Brooke Bechtel with her 20th place effort of 20:15.35. Megan Thai was the next Titan across the finish line, who finished with a time of 20:41.98. Shura Ermakov quickly followed behind Thai with her time of 20:59.00. Rounding out the scoring effort for the Titans were seniors Katrina Scheu (22:59.03) and Olivia Rentsch (23:58.00).
The boys finished in eighteenth place as a team with a total run time of 1:36:37.30. Sophomore Thomas Coble led the scoring efforts for the boys with a time of 18:50.49. A pack of Titans crossed the finish line next when Antonio Burton (19:11.17), Spencer Reardon (19:24.79) and Nathan Demian (19:27.09) all finished within 16 seconds of each other. Rounding out the scoring effort for the Titans was sophomore Noah Hopkins with his time of 19:43.76.
The Titans will continue action Saturday September 7th at the 51st Annual Tommy Evans High School Cross Country Meet hosted by the University of Akron Cross Country Team.
