Basketball players are made during the off-season!

The shot club is an extremely valuable way to improve at basketball, and the best way to improve on your own. By joining the 3,500, 7,000, or 10,000 Shot Club, you are taking part in a prestigious club of basketball players. These players are willing to separate themselves in commitment and dedication to the game. These players understand that hard work is essential in achieving goals and being able to reach the highest potential. If you wish to join the 3,500, 7,000 or 10,000 Shot Club, review this packet, complete the member contract and get shooting!

Want to join the club?

All you have to do is put in some time during the off-season to improve your game. Make 3,500-10,000, or more shots this off-season. Make 3,500-10,000 GAME SHOTS at GAME SPOTS at GAME SPEEDS using CORRECT FORM and you will improve greatly as a player.

What is the correct form?

Correct form is critical to reinforce the proper technique and success. Coach Barther and the Titans Program will be offering a camp from June 25-28 at Berea-Midpark High School to assist players in becoming great shooters. There are many other resources that can assist in this process too.

“There are two ways to become a great shooter. Make 250-300 shots per day with good form, or make 2,500-3,500 shots a day with bad form.”

~ Chicago Bulls Head Coach Fred Hoiberg

What are game shots?

Game shots are different for every player. To be successful, you should start in close to the basket working on proper form for a warm up. Once you have established your range (distance from the basket where you can shoot the ball with proper form) you are ready. But remember any shot you make, whether it’s while warming up or playing pick-up ball, counts toward those 3,500/7,000/10,000 made shots.

***Remember, only GAME SHOTS count towards the 3,500/7,000/10,000 goal. Flipping the ball up from underneath the basket and half-court lightning shots are examples of shots that do NOT count.

Why game speed?

You should shoot all of your shots at game speed because that is what will help make you a better player during games. Standing around and playing “horse” with a friend may be fun, but really isn’t helping you come game time.

Do free throws count?

Absolutely! Ideally free throws will consist of approximately 25% of your shots taken. When you shoot shots at game speed for a long period of time, you will need to rest. Free throws are a great way to rest during a workout.

What is an estimation of what this will take to complete?

To accomplish the 3,500/7,000 or 10,000 goal, consistency is key – so shoot at least 4-5 days a week. 3,500/7,000/10,000 shots works out to about 30 minutes per day of shooting baskets. If you miss a few days, just make it up the next time.

Can I just guess how many shots I shoot?

The idea behind the 10K Shot Club is to give you, the player, the confidence and knowledge that you deserve to win because you put in time to improve your game. You must be true to yourself and be honest about what you want to get out of doing this. Our program is based on hard work, integrity and good character. This offseason program is going to focus on improving your skills and therefore our program’s success. If you work hard, you will improve your game, and hopefully reach your individual and team goals.

Do my parents have to watch me shoot every shot?

Absolutely not! We are on an honor system. By signing the Member Contract, your parent is confirming that to the best of their knowledge you completed your shooting workouts. If they want to help that is great but not required.

What do I get for making the club?

The best part of what you get by participating in the Shot club is that your shot will improve!
