Berea-Midpark High School
Lakewood High School
Junior quarterback Trevor Bycznski completed 13 of 22 passes and three touchdowns and ran for 19 yards and another score as the Berea-Midpark (2-1, 2-0) football team won its second straight game defeating Lakewood (0-3, 0-2) by a 56-14 count at First Federal Lakewood Stadium.
Junior running back Bryce Agnew ran for 79 yards in 11 attempts with a rushing touchdown, and hauled in 2 receptions for 31 yards and a TD. The receiving corps was led by junior wide receiver Omar Siggers who had four grabs for 59 yards. Junior linebacker Stephen Yerkey led the Titans defense with eight tackles.
Head coach Jon Hunek was impressed with his team after the 56-14 victory. “Our goal this week was to get off to a good start, something we have not done in the first two games” Hunek said. “We really did in all three phases. Offense played really well, defense stepped up and had their best game of the year so far, and special teams made some huge plays.”
In the 2nd quarter, with Lakewood driving, the defensive line broke through on a field goal attempt for the block. Senior defensive back Angelo Svigelj-Smith was in the right spot at the right time and scooped up the ball and ran it back 80 yards for a Titans touchdown.
The Titans return to action Friday, September 15 when Berea-Midpark travels to North Ridgeville to battle the Rangers. Kickoff set for 7:00 p.m.
